Sears-Kay Ancient Ruins Exploration Hike

The Sears-Kay ruins are an ancient defensive fortification occupied by the Hohokam tribe between 1050 and 1200 AD. Situated on top of a hill, the location provides a scenic, panoramic view of the Four Peaks, Superstition Mountains, Weaver’s Needle, and Pinnacle Peak.

The exploration hike is 1.6 miles round trip on a trail that is easy for most hikers. On the way up to the ancient ruins, your tour guide will give a presentation on Sonoran desert flora and fauna. As you approach the ruins, the tour guide will give a brief history of the Hohokam, providing context around the construction of the defensive fortification. After the tour guide finishes presenting the five ancient ruins, the group will be given time to take pictures before hiking back.
